Here’s why flight stopovers are not so bad

Flying is a mixed bag for most people. We love the thought of travel, and we look for ways to travel even more. But – especially nowadays, flying can be a real turn-off. Long queues, ramped cabins, and – if you’re unlucky – travelers who decide that it’s OK to fight with airline staff or open the aircraft’s door while the plane is taxiing (yes, this really happens) or pilots being at the end of their ropes when airports appear to have forgotten how to do their jobs.

This post is not a jab at travel professionals at all. The complexities of shuttling hundreds of humans around the globe with very few errors can seem beyond human.

But, it’s safe to say that many travellers genuinely dread the idea of layovers when they fly. Who wants to spend eight hours in an airport?

Stopovers are another thing entirely, though. You may ask what is the difference? A stopover is a great way to break up a long-haul flight into two or more stops, which turn into bonus destinations. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? You can easily make two or three trips out of one!

Booking stopovers is one of the easiest ways of checking several destinations off your travel must-do list. The thing is that you can usually book a few flights with stopovers either for free or with a tiny bit more money than you would have paid for the long-haul flight. Sometimes breaking up a single air journey into various destinations actually costs less. Read more here from our friends Airwander.com who may have finally solved the boredom problem.
