Inspired by the success of the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France\, the race was first organized in 1935. The race was prevented from being run by the Spanish Civil War and World War II in the early years of its existence; however\, the race has been held annually since 1955. As the Vuelta gained prestige and popularity the race was lengthened and its reach began to extend all around the globe. Since 1979\, the event has been staged and managed by Unipublic\, until in 2014\, when Amaury Sport Organisation acquired control\, with both working together. The peloton expanded from a primarily Spanish participation to include riders from all over the world. The Vuelta is a UCI World Tour event\, which means that the teams that compete in the race are mostly UCI WorldTeams\, with the exception of the wild card teams that the organizers can invite. The tradition of such a meeting of Welsh artists dates back to at least the 12th century\, when a festival of poetry and music was held by Rhys ap Gruffydd of Deheubarth at his court in Cardigan in 1176\, but the decline of the bardic tradition made it fall into abeyance. The current format owes much to an 18th-century revival arising out of a number of informal eisteddfodau. The closest English equivalent to eisteddfod is “session”; the word is formed from two Welshmorphemes: eistedd\, meaning “sit”\, and bod\, meaning “be”.[2] In some countries\, the term eisteddfod is used for certain types of performing arts competitions that have nothing to do with Welsh culture URL:https://matouring.com/event/national-eisteddfod-of-wales/ LOCATION:Tregaron\, Wales CATEGORIES:Europe,Fun,History,Music ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://matouring.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/National_Eisteddfod_1947_Colwyn_Bay_7733606568.jpg END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
