Who you gonna call?

This post is only for those who are sturdy, brave and unflappable. (No, not really – this is for everyone.)

Once again, as is part of Matouring’s mission, we present content to you, our lovely readers, that we hope informs and entertains you. We suggest places to go and things to do that, perhaps, you’ve never done. We scour the internet to find fresh content and ideas that we believe you will enjoy, remember and treasure.

But, sometimes, we go beyond and identify something so unusual and unlikely that you might gasp. In this case, we’re speaking about the dead, and their spirits. Do you have what it takes to mingle with and interact amongst ghosts? If you are that hardy type, read on.

Here, we talk about chasing ghosts in ancient York, England. York is a cathedral city with Roman origins, sited at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England. It is the historic county town of Yorkshire. The city has long-standing buildings and other structures, such as a minster, castle, and city walls. It is the largest settlement and the administrative centre of the wider City of York district which covers an area larger than the city itself.

Archaeological evidence suggests that Mesolithic people settled in the region of York between 8000 and 7000 BC, but you will experience York’s darker side in much more modern environs.

Let the darker side of York’s history send a chill down your spine as you discover the city’s dark and terrible secrets. Board the Necrobus and get ready to embark on a 75-minute theatrical sightseeing tour.

Enjoy a comedy horror journey around York’s seedier past as your creepy conductor shows you the sights from a classic 1960s Routemaster bus. The on-board actors and eerily decorated bus will ensure you have the spookiest ride in town.

Let your imagination run wild as you hear about the ghosts that reside within the medieval walls of one of England’s spookiest cities.

Not scary, but scary good – Middletons is a collection of six historical, Grade-II listed building located around a secluded courtyard garden in the heart of York city center, 801 m from York Rail Station and York Minster. It offers complimentary access to a fitness center with a gym. The hotel is 7 minutes’ drive from York Racecourse. Click here to book.
