What can we learn from over-tourism?

As the world gets smaller and the world gets richer, in general, travel is usually the first thing on everyone’s list. For many countries, tourism has always been there and always will be there and provides sustenance to the inhabitants of those places. Sure, it’s not always easy but sometimes you do what you have to do.

But, more and more as the world gets smaller and the world gets richer, the number of people arriving in saturated locations is often simply overwhelming.  And sometimes, no one walks away happy.

This article talks about what Iceland has learned about overtourism. Once a quiet and almost forgotten country, in the past few years it has exploded onto the market as one of the most desirable places to Holiday. Iceland was perhaps not prepared for this, but they are now and this article shows what they have done.
