Lapland snowtrain

It’s likely that most of you would have heard of Lapland, but we probably would also imagine that you don’t know much about it. It’s not so much that it’s a well-kept secret, but there are so many other destinations that might grab your attention. Lapland has been connected with the legendary “North Pole” home of Santa Claus (Father Christmas or Saint Nicholas) since 1927, when Finnish radio host Markus Rautio said that Santa Claus lived on Korvatunturi, a fell (mountain) in the region. Later, Rovaniemi staked a claim as Santa’s “official hometown” and developed the Santa Claus Village attraction to encourage tourism.

Some may even wonder where it is (Finland) and what does it have to offer. As it happens, it has lots to offer. Read on!

Take a ride through the winter wonderland in a warm carriage of a Snowtrain. Head out in the wilderness, far from artificial lights, looking for the Northern Lights.

And one of the tourist treats is lots and lots of snow. Wide open spaces. Abundant wildlife. Lakes and rivers. Quiet solitude. And comfy hotels, restaurants and cabins.
