Airstream dreams

Once again, we write about camping. If you haven’t tried it, what are you waiting for? We would imagine that many don’t like the idea of sleeping on wet grass, or fighting off the horde of mosquitos that camping implies, but there are ways around that by upgrading to 21st century technology that’s been around since the 1940’s: campervans. (They’re so good nowadays that you may not want to go home.)

And, just like most plugged-in people would squeal with delight to own a Porsche or Lamborghini, there are the equivalents to those venerated vehicles in the camping world, as well. And , none is more famous than Airstream. Some will crawl over broken glass to be able to own one, and if you are an owner, you belong to an elite club. Proudly made in Ohio, USA, the Airstream is easily recognized by the distinctive shape of its rounded and polished aluminum coachwork. This body shape dates back to the 1930s and is based on the Bowlus Road Chief, an earlier all-aluminum travel trailer designed and built by Hawley Bowlus, the same designer and engineer who also oversaw the construction of the Spirit of St. Louis.[1]
